We are very excited to introduce a brand new key cabinet from MMF. We worked directly with MMF to design a cabinet to meet the needs of a variety of customers. This cabinet is a Hook style key cabinet featuring 310 hooks. In addition to the large number of hooks, this cabinet offers a very deep interior with extra space at the bottom for storing documentation, licenses and other miscellaneous items. The cabinet has been specifically designed for the new automotive key fobs but, because the rows of hooks are offset and the hooks are larger and curved, this cabinet can be used to store any type of key, including the paracentric keys used in jails and prisons.

The key cabinet features:

* Durable, heavy-gauge steel.
* Sand-colored, chip and scratch resistant finish.
* (Key tags not included)

Dimensions: 31-1/8" tall by 16-1/2" wide by 8" deep
Weight: 45 pounds
Hook Placement:
* Back wall - 70 hooks
* Back of door - 60 hooks
* Each Panel - 90 hooks (48 on side A & 42 on side B)
* Hooks are spaced 1 1/2 inches apart
* Rows are spaced 4 1/4 inches apart

The key cabinet comes standard with a keyed wafer lock. But, as is the case with almost all of our key lock cabinets, we are happy to accommodate our customers' requirements and customize this cabinet with a variety of optional locks.

In fact, the first cabinet we sold was to a jail on the East Coast who were being required by the federal government to keep track of who accessed the keys in the cabinet and when. There are no 'standard cam locks' available that have these capabilities. But certain locks used on safes and gun lockers do. We created an adapter plate for the KABA Auditcon 2 electronic lock that let us mount it on the MMF 310 key cabinet. And, we actually provided the solution for less than the jail had budgeted. Needless to say, they are very happy, particularly since no one else would even talk to them.

We can replace the standard wafer lock with one of several combination locks, including:

. A 3 or 4 dial combination cam lock
. The Compx DualAxess mechanical combination lock with key override
. The Kitlock Electronic Keyless Lock which uses PIN codes rather than a key
. The Kitlock Electronic Lock with Dual Code Access which can require 2 PIN codes for access
. Electronic safe locks (some with activity audit capability)

If you would like more information or have any questions, please give us a call at (877) 254-5411.

Kidde Keysafe Pro / Big Box Surface Mount

The KeySafe Pro from Kidde, also known as the Big Box , is the largest key lock box that Kidde offers.

The Big Box is perfect for holding several keys, keys with larger heads or access cards the size of a credit card.
KeySafe Pro

If you are using access cards, such as at a commercial building or construction site, the KeySafe S7 is a great lock box.

The KeySafe Pro is constructed with thick, rustproof walls made of zinc and weighs in at almost 4 pounds.  For a higher security, it has an interlocking faceplate.

After you set your combination, which you can easily change at any time, the KeySafe Pro's heavy duty mechanical push-button keypad -- which needs no batteries -- is easy to operate - the raised keypad design permits opening the lock box in near dark conditions unlike most dial combination types.

The access door is attached to the lock box body with a flexible "hinge".  This enables one handed operation.

The KeySafe Pro S7 is surface mounted and may be installed to walls, vehicle bumpers, etc. using your own screws or bolts.

Exterior size 4-7/8"h x 3-1/2"w x 2-1/2"d.
Interior size 3-5/8"h x 2-3/8"w x 1-1/2"d.

The KeySafe Pro is only available in black.

Each KeySafe Pro / Big Box ordered from us includes a removable weatherproof cover which keeps the faceplate clean if the unit is exposed to dirt or severe weather. The cover is made of flexible black rubber and fits snugly to ensure weather protection but allows easy access.

Our single unit price is $44.95, plus shipping, but volume pricing is available.

Kidde KeySafe S5 Permanent Key Lock Box

The Keysafe S5 Permanent Key Lock Box is the secure way to keep up to 5 keys accessible.

The S5 Permanent key lock box is a very effective method of restricting key usage to specific personnel.

Like it's brothers, the S5 a very rugged, safe like key box with heavy thick walls, and an almost indestructible door.  The S5 features the same mechanical push-button lock as all members of the KeySafe family, meaning that the combination is easily changed at your discretion.  And no batteries are required, either.

As a policy for all Kidde Keysafe products, we suggest that you keep your combination to 4 or 5 numbers.  Too many or too few are fairly easy to guess.

But remember - the biggest drawback to all KeySafe lock boxes is the combination.  Do Not Loose It!  There is no magic 'factory reset' button.

Overall size 4 1/8" tall x 2-1/2" wide x 2" deep.

An optional protective cover is available to keep the faceplate clean if it will be exposed to dirt or weather.

Our single unit price is $28.95, plus shipping, but volume pricing is available.

The Slimline key lock box, like it's brothers, is a very rugged, vault like key box with very thick walls, and an almost indestructible door (it is almost 1/2 inch thick).  The lock is push-button mechanical - no batteries to worry about - and the combination is easily changed at your discretion.

As a policy for all Kidde Keysafe products, we suggest that you keep your combination to 4 or 5 numbers.  Too many or too few are fairly easy to guess.

The biggest drawback to all KeySafe lock boxes is the combination.  Do Not Loose It!  There is no magic 'factory reset' button.

Overall size 4" tall x 2-1/4" wide x 1-5/8" deep

We do recommend that you add a protective cover to keep the faceplate clean if it will be exposed to dirt or weather.

Kidde KeySafe Portable Lock Box

The KeySafe Portable was the original key lock box invented by Delbert Williams after World War II.
It has evolved into a semi-safe with very thick walls, an almost indestructible door (it is almost 1/2 inch thick) and a hardened steel shackle that is 1/4 inch thick.  The lock is mechanical - no batteries to run down - and is easily changed as often as you need.   The key box has a rubberized coating to protect the door finish and holds up to 3 regular house keys.

We do suggest that you keep your combination to 4 or 5 numbers.  Too many or too few are pretty easy to guess.

The biggest drawback to the KeySafe is the combination.  Do Not Loose It!  There is no magic 'factory reset' button.

Overall size 6" tall x 2-3/8" wide x 1-13/16" deep (including shackle)
Useful interior dimensions: 3 3/4" tall x 1 9/16" wide x 7/16" deep.

We do recommend that you add a protective cover if the lock box will be exposed to mud or bad weather.

Our single unit price is $27.95, plus shipping, but volume pricing is available.

What is a Kidde KeySafe Key Lock Box? Part I

The KeySafe Key Lock Boxes from Kidde (formerly GE/UTC Supra) are essentially small vaults to store a few (from 1 to 5 or so) keys or access cards.  They are designed to simplify the job of managing individual keys.

The original KeySafes were invented by an Oregon real estate agent named Delbert Williams in the early 1950s.  He had grown tired of finding his keys when he wanted to show a house to prospective clients.  The invention of this key box lead to the founding of Supra Products, which was later bought by GE.

These key lock boxes easily attach to a door, wall or fence post close to the lock that the key(s) fit.  They are perfect for realtors, rental property managers, vacation property managers, facility managers, construction sites and just about anyone else who needs to keep keys handy but locked up.  And who don’t want to keep making copies of their keys whenever someone else needs access.

They are also ideal for homeowners who want the security of knowing they can never be locked out of their house (as long as they remember their combination).

The key boxes are available in 3 basic styles:
·         The permanent mount style,
·         The door mount style and
·         The portable style.

KeySafes for vehicles are also available as either permanent mount or temporary attachment styles.

The permanent mount type is just what its name implies.  It is designed to be permanently mounted on a wall or fence post close to the lock.  In fact, one of the two original KeySafe Lock Boxes is the Slimline model, which holds up to 2 keys and mounts on a wall, fence post or other wooden structure with the included mounting screws.  Of course, it can also be mounted on a metal surface with your own hardware.

The permanent mount style comes in 3 sizes:
·         The original KeySafe Slimline version which holds up to 2 keys,
·         The KeySafe S5 model which hold up to 5 keys
·         The  KeySafe Pro (also known as the Big Box) which can hold several keys, keys with larger heads – like automotive keys - or credit card sized access cards.

In addition, a special, custom version of the KeySafe Pro has been developed by Selectlocks.com that features a built-in key retractor secured to the lock box with a tamper resistant screw.  An optional tamper proof cable key ring is available.    Owners of this key box know that access to their keys or access cards is secure.

The door mount option of the S5 KeySafe model holds up to 5 keys and comes with a special attachment that fits over the top of the door.  This securely attaches the lock box to the door, but also allows it to be easily moved.  In addition to the door clip, the key lock box also has a plastic guard on the rear to protect the door from damage.

The portable style is the other original KeySafe developed by Supra.  It holds up to 2 keys and is portable in that it can be easily transferred from one property or door to another.  The Kidde Portable KeySafe  has been used by real estate agents for years.  It is designed to quickly and securely attach to a door handle and offer the same level of security as the other KeySafe models.

In the next part we will examine the Pushbutton lock developed by Supra.
